District 2 - Flora Vista FD

San Juan County Fire Department District 2 (Flora Vista) was established in 1958 by four men, T.C. Bannowsky, T.C. Bishop, James Steele, and Martin Williams. Mr. Bannowsky leased out land for 99 years to keep a tanker and engine in a small 2 bay station.

Currently District 2 responds to approximately 600 emeregency calls per year. District 2 covers an area of 54 square miles with 7 pieces of apparatus and approximately 30 volunteer firefighters operating out of 3 stations.

Station 1 is located 2 miles west of Aztec, NM on Hwy 516. Station 2 is located 1 mile east of Farmington, NM city limits. Station 3 is located on NM Hwy 574 north of Aztec, NM.

District 2 serves San Juan County citizens between Farmington and Aztec, NM as well as citizens between Aztec and La Plata. They go south to the Animas River.

District 2 has automatic aid agreements with District 4, District 3, and District 8. When called, District 2 covers the east side of Farmington, working from Farmington Station 2.
